News and Such
Now for some news, appreciation, and more news …
Our Christmas Eve Living Room 2004
NEWS
Yesterday was the one-year anniversary of The Cerebral Outpost. Thinking back to a year ago and comparing it to today, I can’t even imagine that I had the time to begin this new hobby. Who begins a blog a week before Christmas? Sheesh.
This brings me to my next topic …
APPRECIATION
Historically speaking, I suffer from “lose interest in hobbies rather quickly” disorder. It’s a terrible shame really. Through the years, I’ve created my share of half-finished latch-hook rugs, half-finished children’s story books, half-finished organizational attempts (ugh), half-finished songwriting, and half-assed attempts to become a gourmet cook.
So what has kept me at blogging for a whole year and looking forward to much, much more? Well, it’s interesting. When I started out, I knew that I’d be blogging for myself – as a means to practice my writings, as a means to keep them somewhat organized and in one safe place, and as a means to document much of my past for the sake of my daughter who could one day look back on the nostalgic posts and realize “Oh, so that’s what made mom tick.”
Shortly thereafter, people started to read the Outpost and share comments and I don’t have to tell you how encouraging and comforting that is!
I’d like to make particular mention of some of my earliest and still current readers:
Don Swift (he first planted the idea of blogging into my head and then led me to Blogger.com – Thanks, DS … I’m eternally grateful).
Then, in the order in which they first visited, there was Beth, Dana, Grant, John, June, H&B2, PBS, Carol, Psuche, BugsButt, Mark, Jon, Hick, Walker and Dan. These people have been hanging around and contributing wonderful comments to the Outpost since as far back as January, February and March … and incredibly, they still come back for more. Thank you so much for your undying support!
(Special mention goes out to GEL because she’s gone back and read and commented on many of my early writings, which is quite rare for readers to do and is way cool of her)
APOLOGIES
I’ve been away from my computer more than at it these days, with the exception of keeping to my word on the game-playing responses in my last post.
Bless me bloggers for I have sinned. It has been around two weeks now (sometimes longer) since my last visit … there are reasons other than the obvious holiday madness, and I promise to make every attempt to make up for lost time as soon as my duck’s are back in a row … BUT …
MORE NEWS
I’m getting married on Saturday (tomorrow). Yay me and Ed!
Ed and I have been together now for just under six years after meeting on the Internet. We’ve been happy together since day one and have grown incredibly close. He is every woman’s dream of a solid, loving, caring, responsible and dedicated man (and he’s sexy too but I didn’t say that). He’s also a million other things to me … and I cannot wait to promise the rest of my days to him.
We’re having a very simple yet romantic ceremony in near-complete privacy which was something we have talked about and planned for quite some time now. It’s just the way we like things ~ quiet, calm, and simple.
There you have it ~ I’m excited as hell and can’t possibly put into words what this means to me. I feel like I finally got it right.
I’ll be back soon ... but incase it’s not before next week, please be safe, warm, reflective and happy throughout your holidays and the coming year. And thank you again ~ everyone ~ for helping to make this a truly wonderful year for me! Hugs to all.
Carol

Congratulations also on your one year in the blogging world! I remember clicking through the "next blog" option and finding your site. I instantly knew I wanted to read your posts all the time.
Congratulations and best wishes to a long life of happiness together.
Congrats! I think you should do something simular to your last post (that was awesome). Have everyone write their thoughts and experiences on your "reception". So much gets missed in the drunken haze of a good reception.
My computers have been down for a week so this is the first chance i've had to share in your news.

Um, do you take requests? Cause I think it would be nice to see some wedding pics. If you wanna share them? :-)
Wow! Carol, I wish you and Ed all the best! I married the love of my life after being together for 9 years, 9 years ago. (sounds like a math equation). And happy blog anniversary to boot.
Some comments:
On "News and Such" - Your imaginative game was fun Carol.
On "NEWS" - One year of blogging and so much more to come! Happy anniversary. (I began mine in Jan. and was surprised at how much it came to mean to me.)
On "APPRECIATION" - Are you an Aries child? They're very big on beginning new projects, but not great at staying with it because they get bored. I'm glad you're not bored with blogging. And BTW, next time you start a rug let me know. I'll teach you (we don't live that far away from eachother) how to do hooked rugs the way our ancestors did (as opposed to the latch hook)...might just be another hobby you'll love as much as blogging.
On "APOLOGIES" - No problem.
On "MORE NEWS" - I'm as excited as hell for you and Ed. Congratulations. December must be your month!
A toast to the newlyweds.
May you two have as much ahppiness in the rest of your life as you have this day. More is good too!
WoW
Congrats to the two of you.
Cheers
Happy Blogiversary.
Your a busy lady.

-i sometimes lose interest in ppl also - i get bored really easily.
'am awiting ur return eagerly to hear all 'bout the wedding...
Congrats! On the wonderful marriage and the blog!
It was just my one year blog anniversary. I think I was trying to avoid finals.
Dear Carol,
That morning a while ago when I typed that you were married, I hushed because I have it in my ESP journal for the date. Although you didn't tell me back in Nov. when I was thinking, hmmmmm,
GEL can keep a secret. :) Many, many belated happy wishes to you and ED!
I had no idea your blogaversary happened. Sadly, I didn't discover you until later, but I've enjoyed reading your entire blog cover to cover. Thank you for that kind note in your post. *Blushes*

I read your last post, then read the comments and decided with everything else in my head, I wasn't going to be able to come up with anything as witty or fabulous as the rest of your readers. Was damn fun to read though! lol

CONGRATULATIONS CAROL AND ED!!!!
My Mum's a half-finished latch-hook rugs person. I'm more your helf-finished tapestry type. Maybe now you're a married woman you'll have more time for these things?
:-)
Congrats!
I'm so happy that you are happy. I have missed being on here. I am usually able to stick with hobbies: I've been knitting consistently for almost 10 years. But I did stop blogging a lot in my first year due to unrelenting "life" circumstances. Things are looking up for the new year though. Congratulations on all of the wonderful things you are going through. I've missed you!
